Hey everyone! I'm in my final year of my BSc and I've decided to focus my career on DevOps. I've already got the AWS Cloud Practitioner and Terraform Associate certifications under my belt. I'm looking for suggestions on what my final year project could be to help me stand out to future employers. I'd really appreciate any ideas or insights you might have!

Have you thought about trying the Advent of DevOps project? Alternatively, you could create a project on DigitalOcean, utilizing their Terraform provider and managed Kubernetes along with a full end-to-end pipeline.

A cool project idea could be cloning a platform like Reddit and deploying it from end to end. This way, you’ll gain real-time experience with the deployment process.

Setting up a homelab could be an awesome project if you have the time. It would give you hands-on experience with various tools and setups.

Creating a portfolio project like a drag-and-drop interface that generates Terraform code and deploys it to AWS with real-time cost tracking would definitely catch potential employers' eyes!

It might be worth considering starting out as a developer before transitioning to a DevOps role. Companies often prefer candidates with a solid few years of development experience. However, if you can find a new grad position, just be prepared for a steep learning curve.

You could contribute to an open-source GitHub repository related to DevOps. It's a great way to not only gain practical experience but also build your profile in the community.
