Looking for Free Alternatives to Email Filter Appliance

I recently took over some old systems, including a VM running CentOS with EFA version 4.0.4. Unfortunately, the EFA project isn't under active development anymore. I attempted to set up a CentOS 9 VM with the last known good version of EFA but couldn't get it to work. Since I don't want to waste more time on this, I'm looking for a reliable and free alternative to EFA. There's an ancient Exchange server behind this EFA setup that's beyond my control, so I want to focus on what I can change. Any suggestions for alternatives?

You might want to check out Proxmox Mail Gateway. It’s a good free option if you don’t mind a little learning curve. Just a heads up, if you were open to paid solutions, Exchange Online Protection is pretty solid too, but I understand if you’re sticking with on-prem.

I'll definitely look into Proxmox! But yeah, that Exchange system is ancient and needs to stay as is.

You could also explore SourceForge for some email spam filter options. There are several listed there, but I haven't actively used them recently. Check it out!

I've had some good experiences with Rspamd. It seems to be a solid option for filtering emails and can be a good alternative for what you're dealing with.
