I'm on the hunt for a free backup solution that can handle backups for around 5 to 6 servers. It's important that the software supports backing up to both an onsite Network-Attached Storage (NAS) and an Amazon S3 bucket. If possible, I would love a solution that also manages SQL Server transaction logs. My client is very cost-sensitive, so paid enterprise options aren't feasible. I know Veeam could do everything I need, but only with their Enterprise Plus version, which is out of the question. I've thought about using the free version of Veeam and then scripting uploads from the backup repository to S3, but I'm not sure that's a reliable long-term fix. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

You might want to check out Restic. It's a solid option and supports multiple backends including S3, which could be a perfect fit for your requirements.
I personally prefer Duplicati for its simplicity. It's one of the easiest ways to set up S3 backups with incremental options. You should definitely check it out!
For a setup like yours that involves both NAS and S3 for multiple servers, you might want to check out Duplicati or UrBackup along with rclone. While it's not the slickest solution, it definitely gets the job done. Just keep in mind that it may require a bit of tweaking to set up effectively.
If your needs expand in the future, consider looking into Eon. It's more of a cloud management layer than a specific backup client, but it could help manage backups across a broader infrastructure.
Agreed! Duplicati seems to be easier for many setups.
UrBackup is underrated in my opinion. It offers a lot of flexibility, especially for on-prem and NAS configurations.
Absolutely, especially for on-prem setups!
Interesting. Could you explain what makes it underrated?

Same here! Duplicati makes it really straightforward to get everything working smoothly.
