Looking for Help Choosing PC Parts for Video Editing and Gaming

Hey everyone! I'm diving into content creation, and while I've been making do with my MacBook Pro, I'm finally ready to build a dedicated PC. I'm focusing on a powerful setup primarily for video editing and gaming. Here are my key requirements:

- I need a beast of a machine that can handle 4K video recording for single-player games.
- I also want it to perform smoothly in competitive shooters at 1440p.
- My budget is around $2,500, and I'm not interested in pre-built systems.
- Since I already have a bunch of SSD drives, I didn't include one in my list.

I'd really appreciate any feedback or suggestions on my current parts list:

* AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D 4.3 GHz 16-Core Processor
* Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE ARGB CPU Cooler
* Corsair RM1000e (2023) 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
* G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6400 Memory
* XFX Speedster MERC 310 Black Edition Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24 GB Video Card

What editing and streaming software are you using? If you're deeply into content creation, Nvidia cards tend to perform better due to CUDA and NVENC support which is widely used in applications. And for the 9950X3D, definitely look into getting an AIO cooler to keep things running smoothly.

Right now, I use CapCut for editing and OBS for streaming. I tried adding overlays once, and my laptop couldn't handle it at all!

For that 9950X3D, I'd recommend upgrading to a 360mm AIO cooler instead of the 120mm dual tower you're considering. It’ll help with cooling under heavy workloads, especially when you're editing and gaming.

I noticed that the 7900 XTX is discontinued, so you might want to consider the newer 5080 model which often pops up around the $1,000 mark. Overall, aside from the GPU, your build looks solid! Just make sure to check out pcpartpicker.com to double-check compatibility. Any B850 motherboard should work well with your setup.

Good catch! I forgot to mention the motherboard, but I'm considering the MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI. Does that sound good?
