Hey everyone! I currently have an outdated GTX 1060 and I'm thinking about upgrading. I've been doing some research but would love some advice from those with more experience. I'm debating between the AMD RX 9060/7600 and the Nvidia RTX 5060/5070. My budget is capped at $500, and I mostly play FPS games at 1080p 144Hz. It would be great if the card also offers some future-proofing for more graphics-intensive titles down the line. Which graphics card would you recommend? Thanks in advance!

Honestly, the 9060 XT is kind of overkill for just 1080p gaming. You might not need anything that powerful. But if you want to keep up with newer games in the future, it’s a solid pick. If you opt for something less powerful, though, you'll probably be looking at another upgrade sooner than you'd like.
If your other components are as old as your GTX 1060, consider going for something like a 3060 or 3070. Just getting a current-gen GPU without upgrading the rest of your setup won’t unlock its full potential, so you might want to think about a full build if you do that.
If gaming is your main focus, I’d suggest going for the RX 9060 XT with 16GB. It's a great option if you're leaning towards AMD. However, if you're more into things like 3D work or video editing too, then the Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB could be the better choice.
My daughter uses a 4070 Ti Super for her 1440p 165Hz monitor, and she has zero issues. If you're considering future-proofing, something like that could be worthwhile if you extend your budget a bit.
