I'm a 13-year-old eager to dive into the IT world and I'd love some guidance on how I can grow and learn. I have a basic understanding of problem-solving, both hardware and software, for Windows and Linux PCs, plus I dabble in simple Python programming. What's the best way for me to prepare for a future as an IT technician, and are there particular skills or areas I should focus on as I get started?

Honestly, you're on the right track! To become an IT technician, keep experimenting with technology. Learn more about computer architecture and operating systems, especially Linux. Understanding filesystems and permissions is key, too. If you're up for a challenge, consider beginner certifications like CompTIA ITF+ or CompTIA A+. And definitely continue with Python since it's super useful for automation tasks!

It's cool that you're interested in both hardware and software! If you know the basics of coding and want to focus on problem-solving, studying the hardware of different devices and commands in Linux and Windows bash will definitely help you. And you're right, coding skills can be handy for creating useful tools in high school. IT and telecommunications is a solid field with lots of opportunities! Good luck, and thanks for the advice!

That's awesome that you want to jump into IT! It's a big field with a ton of different paths. I suggest you explore the various roles out there—many IT technicians don't actually code, so you could also think about software development. There are different areas to focus on like game development, app creation, or web development. At 13, you've got plenty of time! Just keep learning and following what interests you. If you still love it in a couple of years, then you can focus on specific skills or courses that match your goals.
