Looking for Modern CMS Recommendations for a React or Angular Project

I'm about to kick off a new project and I'm diving into the tech stack. I'm considering using either React or Angular, with a slight lean towards React since I don't work with it regularly – this could be a great chance to stay current with React trends.

The project involves creating a website for a supporters club, which will include features like articles with categories and tags (WYSIWYG), an events calendar, forms, payment options, and different user roles.

Given these needs, I was initially thinking of using WordPress, especially since I'm familiar with it, and the existing site is almost empty and built on WP. However, I'd like to build the frontend in React or Angular. I know I could pair WP with something like Gatsby, but I want to explore other, potentially more modern CMS options. Any recommendations?

Have you thought about a headless CMS? They're super flexible and let you use React seamlessly. But if you're more inclined towards traditional CMSs, WordPress still stands strong. I also recommend checking out Ghost.

Drupal is another option, but honestly, it’s not the most modern choice and has a steep learning curve. I’ve been at this for over 15 years, so I can vouch for its complexity.

Yeah, Drupal can be a bit of a beast to learn, especially if you’re looking for something straightforward and modern!

You could look into Kirby as well – it’s pretty user-friendly and flexible for various projects. Here's the link: https://getkirby.com/

If you’re building custom websites, I’d suggest looking into headless CMS options. With these, you can still use React, and most of them have solid documentation for easy integration. Personally, I really like using Astro – it's JSX friendly and supports React if needed. For headless CMS, Storyblok and Payload are my top picks.

I’ve only worked with Storyblok once, but it’s pretty user-friendly for adjusting schemas, even after content’s been added. Just be cautious – it can get pricey!
