I just built an awesome new gaming PC with some solid specs: an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor, an ASUS TUF Gaming motherboard, 32GB of RAM, and a 16GB Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 9060 XT graphics card. Currently, I'm gaming at 4K with a 32" Dell monitor that only supports 60Hz, which isn't ideal for a gaming experience because the response time is a bit slow (5-8ms). I'm aiming to run Elite Dangerous on Ultra settings at 4K and 144Hz or even 165Hz. However, I'm unsure if my graphics card can handle this. What kind of performance should I expect, and what monitor would best complement my setup?

Looks like a 1440p monitor is the right route to take! If anyone has recommendations for 1440p monitors, I'm all ears. An important feature for me is built-in KVM capabilities since I use a laptop for work and switch to gaming at night. My current KVM setup reaches only 60Hz and is cluttered with cables. A monitor that simplifies that would be great!
Unfortunately, the 9060 XT isn't really designed for 4K gaming at high refresh rates. You might want to consider upgrading to at least a 9070 XT if you want to reach those performance goals. For now, you'd likely see 80-120 fps when playing Elite Dangerous depending on the scene complexity. A 1440p monitor with a refresh rate of 160Hz or higher might be your best bet for a smoother experience.
The 9060 XT isn't a 4K card, so hitting 144Hz at 4K might be tough. You can get a playable frame rate with some upscaling and frame generation, but I’d suggest looking for a solid 1440p monitor—maybe something like the Acer Predator X27U that hits 280Hz. A high-quality 1440p OLED will outshine a 4K LED in terms of visuals without overloading your GPU.
For the best value, I recommend getting a 1440p monitor that can hit 120Hz or higher. A 1440p OLED is an outstanding option because it can offer superior image quality compared to 4K LED monitors. However, if you can afford it, a 4K OLED will provide an excellent experience, particularly since you’re already gaming at 4K. Just keep in mind that you'll get more frames at 1440p.
