Looking for Private AI Inference Solutions for Healthcare Data

I'm trying to run inference on medical data, but I'm stuck because I can't use regular cloud APIs due to privacy regulations. I've looked into various options, but so far, homomorphic encryption is too slow, federated learning isn't suited to my setup, and differential privacy affects accuracy too much. Everything I've found seems to be either an academic paper that doesn't scale or outrageously expensive enterprise solutions that take forever to implement. Is there anything available in 2025 that actually works in a production environment, offers decent performance, and isn't prohibitively expensive? Bonus points if it's something my small team can implement without needing to hire an entire security team.

It sounds like you're really in a tough spot. There are a few companies focused on AI in healthcare, but they often come with a hefty price tag because of the insurance and pharmaceutical funding behind them. Specialized models could be pricey without providing results that really make a difference. If you're in Germany and dealing with non-anonymized personal data, seriously consider building a security team to avoid trouble down the line. It might seem like a lot, but better safe than sorry!

Have you checked out OVH? They offer services that comply with GDPR and had inference options last I heard. However, your question is a bit vague. What exactly do you need to achieve? What speed do you expect, and in what format do you want the output? Also, do you have any machine learning experience?

I think the challenge really comes down to compliance and the high stakes involved. I've built military systems before, and while I could probably whip something up, I wouldn't touch healthcare without being HIPAA compliant. The paperwork is a whole other world, and you'll need to factor that cost into your plans. It’s pretty pay-to-win in this field. Maybe if you'd started earlier, it wouldn't be so complicated, but now you're really gonna need to invest or find someone who’s already compliant.
