Hey everyone! I just wrapped up my engineering degree and I'm eager to create a couple of solid projects that will help me land my first job. I'm considering kicking things off with a Website Uptime Monitor—do you think that would be a good option for showcasing my skills? I'm also open to any other project suggestions that might catch the eye of employers. Thanks a bunch!

Automated deployments could definitely be a cool project to work on! You might also want to include some auto remediation techniques for a more comprehensive showcase. That could really impress potential employers!

Are you suggesting using Cron with custom scripts for auto remediation? What tools do you think are best for that?

Your idea of a Website Uptime Monitor sounds solid—especially if you complement it with monitoring and observability features. Just curious, what exactly draws you to a career in DevOps? If it's the salary, keep in mind that it might take some time to get to those higher-paying roles. Starting in a regular developer position might allow for quicker career growth. It’s also beneficial to understand the challenges faced by developers. But if you love automation and observability, then go for it! Just know it's a competitive field.

A website uptime monitor is a great start! It showcases important skills like monitoring and alerts, and it could involve some frontend development too. You could also consider creating a simple task manager or even a portfolio site that includes automated deployment—those could really make you stand out to hiring managers!

I actually built a portfolio site myself, and I've got some apps on the Play Store as well! It's been a good experience.
