Looking for Silent Mechanical Keyboards Within My Budget

I'm in the market for a new wireless keyboard and really enjoy the feel of mechanical keyboards. However, my current one is way too noisy for my shared room with my sister, who's often annoyed by the sound. The keyboard I have now is wired and lacks a satisfying typing experience. I'm hoping to find options that are not just mechanical but also silent. Since I'm in Europe, any recommendations should ideally be available from local stores that ship here. My budget is around €200 to €250, as I also need to upgrade my headphones and mouse.

If you're looking for a really quiet experience, gasket-mounted keyboards might be the way to go. They sound thockier compared to standard mounts, and if you avoid clicky switches, it’ll mostly be about the bottom-out noise. That said, if you can learn to press keys lightly on linear switches, you could minimize sound even more! It’s a bit of a challenge to develop the habit, though.

That's smart! I definitely need as quiet as I can get my hands on. The keyboard I have now is really noisy and it drives me nuts!

For a budget option, check out Arteck keyboards. They’re usually under your budget and surprisingly decent! Just give them a shot for a while!

How quiet are they, though?

I've had a Corsair Strafe with silent switches, and while it wasn't the best typing feel, it did the job in my small apartment. I could play games without waking up my girlfriend! You should also look into hall effect keyboards with magnetic switches; they're pretty quiet too.

You might want to consider a hot-swap mechanical keyboard. You can buy one you like and swap out the switches for silent ones. I personally use Silent Frozen switches in my Keychron K8, and they're completely silent – perfect for the office. As for the keyboard, my friend loves her WhatGeek x LEOBOG Hi75 DIY kit. It's easy to assemble too! Just remember that while silent switches are nice, they might not feel as great as traditional ones, but it's a good compromise.
