I'm in the process of putting together my first gaming PC and would love some insights before I make any purchases. I'm considering waiting a bit since RAM prices are currently dropping, and I hope they'll continue to do so by the end of the year. I'm specifically looking for an AMD CPU, an NVIDIA GPU, and 32GB of RAM. My budget is between $1500 and $2000.
Here's the components list I have in mind, which I got from a friend since I'm not super experienced with PC parts:
- CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- GPU: RTX 5060 Ti 16GB
- Motherboard: Gigabyte X870 Gaming X WiFi7
- RAM: 32GB DDR5-6000 CL36 Corsair Vengeance RGB
- Storage: WD Blue SN5000 2TB NVMe
- Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212
- Power Supply: SeaSonic GX 750W Gold
If anyone has suggestions for improvements or alternatives, I'd really appreciate the feedback!

Honestly, I think you're going a bit overboard with that CPU given the GPU you’re planning to use. Switch to a Ryzen 7 9700X and pair it with a 9070 GPU, and you'll save some cash while keeping similar performance. That configuration will still comfortably handle gaming and game development without overspending!
Your build isn't too shabby, but I think you could get more bang for your buck! While I agree that the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is a solid choice, I suggest swapping the motherboard for something like a B850 board. It'll save you some cash without compromising performance for gaming. Also, the Hyper 212 cooler is decent, but you might want to opt for a more powerful cooler, especially for that CPU. Something like the Thermalright Phantom Spirit would work better.
Oh, and I recommend changing your SSD to a model with DRAM for a smoother experience. And if you've got flexibility in your budget, you might consider going for a more powerful GPU, possibly an AMD card too! They can offer great performance and often come at a better price point than NVIDIA.
Thanks for your suggestions! I'm definitely interested in saving some money where I can. Just to ask, will the new cooler fit with the RAM I've chosen? I don't want height issues. Also, I'm a bit biased towards NVIDIA because of their gaming optimizations. Any thoughts on which AMD GPU you'd recommend?
Nice tips! It sounds like a good balance of value and future-proofing. Appreciate the shoutout on the cooler and motherboard!

I hear you! I chose the 7800X3D for its reputation and future-proofing. Do you really think the switch is worth it?
