Looking for the Best Monitor Setup for Gaming and Movies

Hey folks! I've just finished building my PC with a Ryzen 7 7700X, Radeon RX 9060 XT (16 GB), and 32 GB of RAM. I'm on the hunt for a good monitor that can handle 1440p gaming. My focus is on playing AA and AAA titles, aiming for 60 to 100 fps—not too competitive. I'm considering either a 27" or 32" display, as I also want to enjoy movies from my bed, which is about 10 feet away.

Currently, I'm gaming on a 16" laptop at 1440p, and the image quality is fantastic, so I'd like to maintain that level of clarity. However, I'm a bit concerned about 32" being too large for 1440p. I've read some recommendations for 4K monitors in that size, but I know my GPU might struggle to manage 4K at decent fps.

Can I play 1440p or even 1080p on a 4K monitor? Is that a wise choice? Would it be better to invest a bit more in a 4K 32" display, a 4K 27", or stick with a 27" 1440p? My budget is around 200-250 euros. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I highly recommend going for a 3440x1440 ultrawide monitor. It's a significant upgrade, and you can find several options within your budget. The extra screen space is excellent for gaming and movie watching!

I hadn't considered ultrawide monitors. Are they mostly IPS or VA panels?

Just curious, how much do a Ryzen 7600X and a Radeon 9070 or 5070 cost?

They're about 250-300 euros more than the 9060 XT. I'm already stretching my budget since I also need to buy a desk, keyboard, and everything else!

You can definitely play 1440p on a 4K monitor, but be aware that the scaling isn't perfect. Using FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) in performance mode might help, and you can lower the game settings a bit to improve performance. However, playing 1080p on a 4K display will reduce quality compared to your laptop's native resolution. For the best performance and visuals, going with a native 1440p monitor is ideal.

So you're saying it's best to stick with a native 1440p for optimal quality?
