Looking for the Best Upgrades for My Son’s PC

I built a PC for my son a few years back, and the only upgrade I've done so far was getting him a 7800 XT GPU. His current setup includes a B550 Tomahawk motherboard, a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, 32 GB of RAM, and of course, the 7800 XT. Now I'm looking for some logical upgrades to enhance his gaming experience. I want to keep the budget under $500 to $600. Any recommendations?

I’d recommend just dropping in the Ryzen 5700X3D—it’ll keep your son gaming for years to come. Just make sure to update the BIOS before you install it to ensure compatibility!

What kind of cooler should I get for that? We’ve been using the cooler from the Ryzen 5 3600 so far.

One of the easiest upgrades would be the Ryzen 5700X3D. It's a great CPU that can boost performance significantly, but keep in mind it's priced over $250 right now. If you're near a Micro Center, you might find bundles with the 9800X3D or 7800X3D, but those run between $500 to $650+. Definitely a solid option if you're willing to spend just a bit more!

Is the 5700X3D compatible with his current motherboard? I was thinking I might have to replace both the CPU and the motherboard.

Do you have any cooler recommendations to pair with that CPU? We're currently using the stock cooler that came with the Ryzen 5 3600.
