Looking for Tips on Finding a Python Developer Job

Hey everyone! I'm diving into the job market as a new Python developer and could really use your advice. I recently earned my Tosa expert certification (yay me!), and now I'm on the hunt for a job. I'm curious about which sectors are hiring the most -- I've got an interest in web development, video games, and backend work, but I'm open to other fields too. Also, I'd love to hear how the job market is changing with the rise of AI and what I can do, as a junior dev, to stay ahead of the curve. Thanks a bunch!

I've been in Python development for 20 years and, to be honest, I haven’t heard much about the Tosa certification being very impactful. Just a heads up on that front.

Yeah, I’m not sold either. Seems a bit sketchy to me.

Totally with you on that.

Congrats on your Tosa certification! That’s awesome! For finding Python jobs, I’d suggest focusing on a few areas:
- Web development (Django or Flask) is still very much in demand.
- Backend API development is everywhere, so that's a good bet.
- Data science and machine learning are also hot topics these days!
- Even game studios use Python for various tools.

As for AI, don’t sweat it too much! Try to learn how to work together with tools like GitHub Copilot; they can enhance your skills rather than take them away.

For tips as a junior dev:
- Build a solid GitHub portfolio.
- Consider contributing to open source projects.
- Brush up on cloud technologies like AWS or Google Cloud.
- Join Python meetups to network and learn from others.

You’ve got this! Companies often provide training for the right candidate, even if you don’t meet every requirement. Good luck!

I can't believe I'm taking job advice from Jar Jar! What a day!

I landed my first Python job by simply browsing job ads online. Found something that looked appealing, applied, and they asked me to complete a task over a few days. After that, it was just an interview and I got the job! Simple as that.
