Looking for Tips to Migrate VMs from VMWare to Hyper-V

I need some advice on migrating a VMWare VM that's using a virtual TPM over to Hyper-V. There's no BitLocker involved, which is great, but I do have a few Windows 11 VMs that need to be transferred. Any suggestions or tips would be really helpful! Thanks!

Honestly, I'd say just avoid it altogether if you can. Migration can be a hassle!

Check out the StarWind V2V Converter—it might make your life easier. Just remember to uninstall the VMWare tools before you start the migration. Though now I'm not sure; some say keeping them installed is vital for the process to work right.

I actually recommend using that converter too! It automates the whole thing and makes it super straightforward. Just don’t forget to update the MAC addresses on your virtual network adapters afterwards, especially if you're using DHCP.

But shouldn’t you uninstall the tools after migrating? I thought they were necessary for proper networking and disk drivers before the move.

SysInternals has this great tool called Disk2VHD. It lets you take your running Windows VMs and convert them directly into VHD files for Hyper-V. It’s pretty reliable!
