Looking to Build a New PC for Gaming and 3D Modeling – Need Advice!

I've been using the same PC for over eight years, and it's finally starting to give up on me. I want to get into 3D modeling and I'm a heavy gamer, so I'm looking for a decent build that can handle both. With prices of parts skyrocketing recently, I'm feeling a bit lost on what to do. My current setup keeps shutting down unexpectedly, and I have issues with my monitors. What should I be looking for in new hardware?

You might've picked the worst moment for a new PC. Prices for RAM, SSDs, and GPUs are quite steep. I'd suggest checking out pcpartpicker.com for inspiration. You might discover some configurations that fit your budget and even find some decent pre-builts on sites like Amazon or Newegg that could save you some cash.

That's good advice! Pre-builts might be the way to go if you're looking to avoid the hassle of building right now.

It's a tough time for building a new rig right now. Expect to spend at least $1500 to $2000 for something that meets your gaming and modeling needs. An AM4 build with DDR4 memory is still a reliable option. Just be prepared for the costs, as they can add up quickly!

Before rushing into a new build, check a couple of things with your current setup first. See how your CPU and GPU temperatures are doing — you might just need to clean or reapply thermal paste. And consider replacing the power supply. A failing PSU could be the reason for your system shutting down. If that doesn’t help, then explore either an AM4 or LGA1700 build — both support DDR4 and should serve you well for a few years.

It really depends on your budget! This hobby can get pricey, but remember, you only build a rig every few years. So, spending a few thousand for peak performance can be worth it in the end.
