Hey everyone! I just watched a PewDiePie video that got me super interested in 'ricing' my setup. I came across this amazing bleach theme on r/unixporn, and I've decided I want to switch from Windows 11 to Linux Mint since I really don't like Windows 11. I'm looking for some YouTube channels or blogs that can help me migrate my data, games, and software to Mint, and hopefully, I can learn more about ricing in the process. Thanks for any guidance, and have a great day! <3

Check out the migration page in the wiki for some great tips! There’s also a sticky post with advice for making the switch. Plus, doing a search for ‘migrating’ on the subreddit can yield lots of helpful info too. Just a heads up from Smokey: make sure to only use root when necessary, avoid third-party repos unless you absolutely have to, and always verify ISO checksums. Good luck!
For tutorials, The Linux Cast on YouTube has solid content, especially if you're looking for direct guidance. Learn Linux TV is another good option, but it's a bit more technical and doesn't focus too much on gaming. Enjoy your journey into Linux!
If you’re into gaming like PUBG or Valorant, you might run into some trouble on Linux. Just a heads-up, don't waste too much time if those are your main games. It's a bit tricky!
You should definitely check out the megathread of tutorials on r/unixporn! The pinned posts have a lot of great resources for getting started. I’m not really a UI expert myself since I usually stick with vanilla Gnome and just a few extensions, but that’s a solid starting point. Welcome to the Linux community, and make sure to search threads before asking!
I always feel a bit overwhelmed when I visit that sub too. I wish I had the patience to rice my setup like some people do—it looks amazing!
Oh wow, I just found that thread right after you mentioned it! Can't wait to dive in and read through it.
I found Michael Horn's channel super helpful in getting started. The Linux Experiment is another great one—just make sure to look up what you need to do and choose tutorials that seem trustworthy. I’ve been able to set up a dual-boot with Windows 11 and Fedora 42 without too much hassle, and there are some excellent tutorials available for those setups.
Honestly, I stick to Steam games nowadays. If it's not on Steam, I probably don’t play it anyway.
