Hey everyone! A friend's PC is stuck waiting for an RMA on his 3060 Ti, and he doesn't want to wait 2-5 weeks for it to come back. He's considering an upgrade with a budget of around 1000 AUD, but that can be a bit flexible. We were thinking about the new 9070 XT, but it seems like it requires a PCIe 5.0 motherboard, which might mean we'd have to replace the motherboard too. Here are his current specs: Aorus B660m Pro DDR4, i7 12700, 32GB RAM, and a 750W PSU. Any thoughts on what he should do?

You actually don't need a PCIe 5.0 motherboard. PCIe is backwards compatible, so the 9070 XT should work fine with your friend's current setup!
The 9070 XT is a great option and it fits within the budget. Just keep in mind that if you want to stay under 1000 AUD, you might also consider the regular 9070 or even the 5070, which is usually cheaper!
I saw the 5070 Ti is available for around 800 AUD at Microcenter right now.
When it comes to the 9070 XT, brands like Gigabyte are pretty similar overall. If you're looking for top performance, though, go for the Sapphire Nitro + or the Powercolor Red Devil. They usually offer slight performance advantages.
Yeah, all brands are pretty close in performance, just a few percentage points difference.
Oh sweet, we'll just get the 9070 then haha!
