Hey everyone! I'm currently using a GTX 1080 with an Intel i5-8600K overclocked to 4.3 GHz, but I'm starting to feel like my GPU is lagging behind, especially with newer 1440p games like Hogwarts Legacy, The Last of Us Part II, and GTA V. I'm aiming for a smooth experience with 60+ FPS on high or ultra settings.
I have a couple of questions:
1. What GPU would work well with my current setup?
2. Should I be worried about my CPU bottlenecking newer models like the 3060 Ti or 6600 XT? Would it be worth considering a platform upgrade too?

Make sure to grab a model with at least 16GB of VRAM. It's becoming pretty standard for modern games, and it’ll help future-proof your rig a bit.
If you're thinking about upgrades, both the 3060 Ti and the 6600 XT are solid choices! Just keep in mind that your CPU might hold you back a bit with those graphics cards. I'd suggest getting the GPU first and seeing how it performs. If you're still not satisfied, you may want to consider a CPU upgrade as well.
For best performance at that resolution, the sweet spot right now seems to be the 4070 Ti or the 7900 XT. They are pretty powerful but, yes, your CPU would bottleneck them. Try getting a higher-end GPU first, then maybe think about upgrading to a DDR5 platform later on.
Totally agree! Once I upgraded my GPU, I found my gameplay was decent enough for a while before I decided to overhaul the whole system.
Yeah, I had a similar experience! After getting my new GPU, I noticed a big difference, but eventually, I upgraded my CPU too, and it was totally worth it.
