I'm considering some upgrades to my 2020 PC build and would love advice on what components I can keep and what I should replace. I'm thinking about getting a new GPU, CPU, and adding more RAM. My current setup is handling 1440p gaming quite well at 60+ fps on medium to high settings (like in Baldur's Gate 3 and Indiana Jones), and I want to maintain that 1440p performance.
Here's my current build:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor
- **CPU Cooler:** Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition
- **Motherboard:** MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4
- **Memory:** Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600
- **Storage:** Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1 TB NVMe SSD (plus two 1TB regular SSDs)
- **Video Card:** Asus DUAL EVO OC GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8 GB
- **Case:** Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower
- **Power Supply:** EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G3 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular

I think just upgrading the CPU and GPU would be sufficient; the rest of your build looks solid enough to keep for now.
If you're looking to upgrade, a used 5700X3D or a 5600X (if you're on a budget) would be a great start. But for gaming at 1440p, you’ll really want a new GPU, like at least a 7800XT or a 4070 Super – something with 16GB VRAM ideally. Just be aware that an upgrade like that might mean you need a new power supply too.
I’d recommend upgrading your CPU, motherboard, and GPU. Also, consider bumping your RAM to 32GB for better performance! That combo will take your gaming to the next level.
Thanks! I was actually considering a GPU upgrade to something like the 5070!
