Hey everyone! I'm thinking about giving my aging PC a full upgrade since it's struggling with VRAM issues and it's about 5 years old. Just to give you some context, I'm located in Canada where prices can vary a lot. I'm planning to keep my current case, storage, and cooler, but would love to know if there's any way to save some money while still achieving similar performance, ideally keeping the total cost under $1500 CAD. Here's what I've got in my cart (all prices in CAD):
- Ryzen 7 7700x - $379
- ASUS PRIME B840 - $190
- 32 GB DDR5 6000 - $125
- 5060 ti 16GB - $619
- Cooler Master MWE V2 850W - $124
This totals to $1,427 CAD or about $1,038 USD. Any advice would be really appreciated! Also, here's my PC part picker link for reference: [PC part picker link](https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/12Dejavu21/saved/VBmbwP)

If you're looking for better performance, consider upgrading to either the Ryzen 5 9600x or the Ryzen 7 9700x. Pair that with a new B650 or B850 motherboard to utilize PBO overclocking. Just make sure your RAM is CL30; since your CPU lacks 3D V-Cache, it can really help optimize performance.
Honestly, you might want to consider switching the motherboard to a B650 or B850 instead of the B840 since it's basically just an A620 board. Also, don’t forget that you’ll need an additional CPU cooler unless your current one fits AM5! I’d recommend checking out thermalright dual tower air coolers like the Peerless Assassin — they’re budget-friendly and perform great!
My cooler is indeed compatible with AM5, so I’ll stick with it for now! Thanks for the tip on the motherboard.
That B840 isn’t the best choice. Definitely look into getting a B650 or B850—there are some solid options available. Just check out this ASUS TUF Gaming B650M board [link](https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/nfyH99/asus-tuf-gaming-b650m-e-wifi-micro-atx-am5-motherboard-tuf-gaming-b650m-e-wifi) if you're interested!
Great suggestion! The Ryzen 5 9600x is much cheaper too. Currently, my RAM is CL36—do you think that will work?
