Hey everyone! I'm back with another question. I'll be turning 17 soon, and although I don't get to use my PC as much anymore, I still enjoy tweaking it once in a while. Recently, I got a new Acer VG270 monitor and a Logitech G304 Lightspeed mouse, which I'm really excited about. So far, the only major upgrade was adding a 1TB HDD for extra storage.
Now, I'm thinking about upgrading my CPU, but I hit a snag because my RAM configuration is DDR3. If I get a new CPU and motherboard, I'll need DDR4 RAM, which complicates things. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what I should do next. Also, if anyone here remembers my first post, I'd love to reconnect!

It sounds like you're in a bit of a bind. Dell computers often have proprietary parts that make upgrading tricky. If you're planning to upgrade your CPU and motherboard, you might need to replace your RAM too, since DDR3 and DDR4 aren't compatible.
Thanks for the heads up! I guess it might be time to save up for a bigger upgrade.

Yeah, it's usually a good idea to think about the whole system if you're upgrading the core components. You could look at a new PC build if you're aiming for performance.
