Looking to Upgrade My GPU for Gaming and 4K Support

Hey everyone! I'm trying to decide on a GPU upgrade for my PC, which I built about three years ago. I saved up to upgrade the GPU, and now that I've got a 4K monitor (mostly for work), I'm noticing that games are starting to lag a bit. My computer runs smoothly overall, but I think it's time to enhance my gaming experience.

I'm not a hardcore gamer—I'm fine with a stable 28-35 fps in demanding games like Cyberpunk, but I'd love to get closer to 60 fps without breaking the bank. I'd prefer not to spend over $1,000 on a GPU, but I feel a bit lost trying to figure out what my options are. Here are the specs of my current setup:

* **MSI RTX 3060 Ventus 3X 12G OC Graphics Card**
* **CORSAIR RM850x 850W Power Supply**
* **AMD Ryzen 9 5900X CPU**
* **GIGABYTE X570S AERO G Motherboard**
* **G.SKILL Ripjaws V 64GB RAM (2 x 32GB)**

What do you recommend for a solid GPU upgrade? Thanks in advance!

You're on the right track with looking for an upgrade! The RX 9070 XT has 16GB of RAM while the RTX 5070 Ti comes with 12GB. They would serve you much better than the RTX 3060. Just a heads up, the 5070 Ti is only available in 16GB, so you’re good there! These two cards should handle 4K gaming much better.

Interesting point! I was wondering, why does the RX 9070 XT have more RAM compared to the RTX 5070 Ti? Are they pretty much equal in performance or is one better depending on the game?

Yeah, they’re pretty comparable, but the RX 9070 XT generally performs better in certain games thanks to its higher VRAM, giving you more flexibility in high-res settings.

A great upgrade for you would be the Radeon RX 9070 XT. It's a powerhouse and typically goes for around $600 in the US. You’ll notice a big boost in performance, especially for 4K gaming.

Honestly, your RTX 3060 is a bit underwhelming for 4K gaming, since it’s more of a 1080p/1440p card. I’d recommend either the RX 9070 XT or the RTX 5070 Ti—both are solid for your needs and usually start at about $600. The 5080 is a step up but comes with a price tag of $1,000, which might not be ideal.
