Looking to Upgrade My Intel i5 10400f for Better Gaming Performance

Hey everyone! This is my first post here, and I'm looking for some guidance on upgrading my PC. I built my setup in 2022, and here are my specs: an Intel i5 10400f processor, a B450M motherboard, 16GB of DDR4 2666MHz RAM, a 500GB SSD, and an RTX 3060 GPU. I mainly play lightweight games like Valorant, Minecraft, and Rocket League, but I've noticed my FPS has been dropping over time, which is now affecting my gameplay. Initially, I was getting between 300-800 FPS, but now it's more around 200-300 and often below my refresh rate of 165, which has been pretty frustrating. I'm looking to upgrade my CPU and motherboard without overhauling my entire system since I think my RAM and GPU are still adequate. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you might need a CPU upgrade since games do get more demanding with updates. If you're looking for a significant boost, consider getting an i5 14600k along with a B760 DDR4 motherboard. You can find a build suggestion [here](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/DcRcHG). Also, I'd recommend adding another 16GB of RAM for better performance!

Sticking with Intel, the i5 14600k is a solid upgrade and won't break the bank. Just remember that you'll need a compatible motherboard for that change. The 14th gen Intel chips can work with both DDR4 and DDR5 memory, but you can't mix them—so choose wisely!
