I'm currently using an old HP Elitebook 2560P running Kubuntu 25.10 with KDE & SDDM. My mouse, a Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical, is beginning to fail, and I'm thinking about switching to a wireless mouse. I'm curious about how compatible wireless mice are with Linux since it's been a while since I've used one. What should I keep in mind when choosing a wireless mouse?

I've never had problems with wireless mice from brands like Logitech or Razer on Linux. Just look for one with built-in memory for settings, or that has a Linux-compatible driver. If the mouse has a web driver, it's likely going to work for you!
Bluetooth mice generally work great too, whether you have a dongle or built-in Bluetooth. I've been using one with an older ASUS laptop running Linux without any trouble.
From my experience, virtually all wireless mice work seamlessly with Linux, either via USB or Bluetooth. If you want something highly accurate, check out the 3DConnexion CadMouse; mine's been going strong for a decade, aside from some wear on the thumb pads.
Most wireless mice should connect without issues since they typically link through the USB port. The main ones to watch out for are those with extra features, like customizable LED settings. With the right drivers or software, even those can be made to work fine on Linux.
My Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed operates flawlessly under Linux. I suggest going for a model that is either wired or one that uses a 2.4 GHz dongle for the best experience!

Good to know! I'm definitely on the lookout for something to replace my old mouse. Hope I can find a solid option without breaking the bank!
