Looking to Upgrade My Old Gaming PC

I recently got an MSI 1060 GPU for my PC, but I'm not seeing any improvement in my FPS. I think my old CPU is the issue since it just can't keep up. I'm looking for recommendations on a good motherboard and CPU combo that won't break the bank. I mainly want to play CS at decent FPS and maybe run an old PS2 game directly, so no need for emulation. Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

It sounds like you're dealing with a CPU bottleneck. Without knowing what motherboard you currently have, I'd suggest looking at a used Ryzen 5 3600 or 2600. They offer great performance for gaming without being too pricey.

A 4th gen i7 can still hold its ground pretty well! If you can find a bundle for an i7 9700K, that might be a good option to consider! It's definitely worth checking out.
