Hey everyone! I was just playing Helldivers 2 on my MSI 2070 Super when I heard a loud pop, and my PC shut down immediately. After that, I noticed a strong chemical smell coming from my GPU, which makes me think it might have a blown capacitor. However, I'm not entirely sure that's the issue. I've checked my motherboard for any blown capacitors but didn't find any, and the power supply doesn't smell either. The PC does boot, but there's no display when I unplug the GPU. Any advice on what could be going on? Is the smell just a distraction, or is there something really wrong?

Often, the fuse on the GPU is one of the first things to blow because of how they're designed. It's worth checking out if you can.
You should inspect all components, including the PSU. If something popped, you might have lost more than just the GPU. The usual suspects are indeed capacitors, but also think about VRM issues—they can pop like popcorn too.
Is your GPU still working? Have you tried removing it to see if that's the source of the problem? If you unplug it and your PC boots up fine, it could just be the GPU that's fried.
If you don't see any immediate hazards, it might be worth trying to plug it back in again and see what happens!

I did remove the GPU, and the PC boots fine now. The drive light is flashing, so I think it's okay. I might just need to tweak something in the BIOS to re-enable the display port for the motherboard.
