Hey everyone, I need some help! I was gaming at high settings when my PC suddenly made a loud popping noise and shut down, but it turned back on right away. I quickly turned off the power supply unit (PSU) which is a Corsair 850x. I built this PC about three years ago, but I don't know much about troubleshooting hardware issues. Do you think the PSU is failing, or does the quick reboot mean everything might be okay?

First off, can you share your specs? That'll help us figure this out better!
Make sure to check the motherboard for any bulging capacitors or signs of damage. It's essential for narrowing down the issue!
I checked, and everything looks normal on my motherboard.
You might have triggered a safety fuse if the PSU was overloaded. It's good that it shut down and rebooted. Just keep an eye on the temperatures now; they should be fine as long as nothing else seems off.
Yeah, I turned it back on and am keeping tabs on the temps, and everything seems fine. Is it safe to keep using this PSU?
Sure! I have an Asus ROG Z690, Nvidia 3090, 16GB of RAM, and an 11th gen Intel processor with the Corsair RM850x PSU.
