I'm curious about the best ways to manage thin clients in a VDI environment. In my case, I have a mix of thin clients, all running different versions of Windows, which makes updating them a real hassle. Some can't even handle Windows 10. Do most people go with Linux, or maybe other operating systems? Are there suggestions for custom images?

A lot of folks uses dedicated thin client operating systems like IGEL, or whatever your hardware vendor provides at a lower cost. IGEL can be pricey but it’s often seen as worth the investment since it reduces the Windows management overhead in VDI setups.
Totally get that! It's confusing why some choose Windows for thin clients when there are better options out there. I'm struggling with a mix of Windows 7 and several updates of Windows 10 myself, and I need to find a more streamlined approach to managing them.
