A little backstory: a while back, we had a user who overloaded their desktop with files, which led to a hard drive failure and significant data loss. To prevent that, we set up Desktop Folder redirection to backup to OneDrive. However, we're running into issues with desktop shortcuts for specific users. When we push shortcuts via GPO, they get backed up to OneDrive, and if users log in again, it creates duplicate shortcuts. I've tried disabling backup for .urls and .lnks to fix this, but it also prevents user-created shortcuts from syncing properly. I've experimented with using Intune and PowerShell scripts to deploy shortcuts, but sometimes timing issues with OneDrive cause it to push duplicates.
