My Acer Laptop Won’t Turn On After I Changed the Battery, Help!

I have an Acer Predator Helios 300, and I recently replaced the battery because it shut down completely while I was gaming. After swapping the batteries, I plugged it in and waited for about 10 minutes, but no lights came on. Even after 12 hours, there's still no sign of life. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this? I'm pretty sure the charging cable isn't the problem since it didn't give me warnings beforehand, and overheating likely caused the initial shutdown.

This issue with the Acer Predator Helios 300 can be quite common after a battery change. Here’s what you might want to consider trying:
1. First, check the battery connection. Sometimes, the connector isn't fully seated. It might be worth opening it up to ensure it's snug in the socket.
2. Next, try removing the battery and holding down the power button for about 30-60 seconds. This helps discharge any residual charge. Then plug the AC back in (without the battery) and see if it powers on.
3. You could also try powering on with just the AC connected, without the battery. If it doesn’t turn on, the issue could lie elsewhere, like a motherboard problem.
4. Consider resetting the CMOS/RTC. Some Acer models require removing the small coin-cell battery or using a reset switch to fully reset the system after hardware changes.
5. It's also good to check that the replacement battery is compatible. Aftermarket batteries can be hit or miss. If it's not OEM or not the right model, the laptop may not power on at all.
6. Lastly, look for any tiny switches on the bottom case, sometimes there’s a battery reset pinhole that can help revive the laptop.
If it only powers on briefly or not at all after this, there could be a problem with the replacement battery or possibly a motherboard issue that coincidentally surfaced.

Before getting too far into the troubleshooting, what made you think it was the battery that caused the shutdown in the first place? Did you notice any specific symptoms prior to the shutdown?

Well, it was just overheating and I had been having issues with battery life before.
