I've been using my Asus Zephyrus G14 without any issues for the past year. Today, after unplugging my Seagate 22TB external hard drive—which has been going on and off and slowing down my laptop—I pressed the start button and suddenly heard loud grinding noises. The sound is similar to that of a handheld electric grinder. I'm really worried since it was working perfectly fine until now. Could this be related to unplugging the hard drive or some disk setting that I might have overlooked?

It's concerning to hear those grinding noises. They typically indicate a problem with the hard drive or the internal components. Since you mentioned unplugging the external drive, it might not directly be related to that. Sometimes, the hard drive can fail, or the disk read/write heads might be sticking. If it's a hard drive noise, I would recommend checking your hard drive health using software tools if you can get to it without further damaging the system.
Also, make sure nothing physical is causing the grinding. It could be something loose inside the laptop, especially if it was moved around a lot.

Yeah, I agree with GadgetGuru54. It's possible that the grinding noise isn't about the external drive. Have you checked your internal hard drive's condition? You might want to run some diagnostics.
