My CPU is overheating with a Lian Li Galahad 240 AIO—What should I do?

Hey everyone! I need some advice. I've been running an i7-4770K for quite a while now without issues, but recently it's started overheating. The CPU temperature spikes over 80°C even when the system is idle. I've already replaced the thermal paste, re-seated the block, and changed the pump pins, but nothing seems to help. I also hear a gurgling noise from the pump, and only one of the tubes feels like it has fluid flowing through it— the other one is silent. Could this be due to trapped air or a blockage in the pump? If so, what steps can I take to fix it? Thanks for your help!

It sounds like there might be a blockage in your AIO or maybe the pump is failing. AIO coolers usually can't be repaired, so if there’s something wrong, you might need to replace it. Considering it's been about 3 years since the Galahad was installed, that’s not too long, but they can still wear out unexpectedly.

From what you describe, if the pump is gurgling and there’s fluid movement only in one tube, it sounds more like a pump failure rather than just low coolant levels. It’s likely time to consider a replacement.

Have you tried giving it a little shake? Sometimes it helps to redistribute bubbles. Alternatively, if it’s too much hassle, picking up a $15 air cooler might be a simpler solution.

Good question! Is the pump positioned as the highest point in your cooling loop? That can really affect bubble formation.
