I've been having a serious issue with my CPU overheating. It's about three years old and I've got an AIO cooler installed. After I reapplied thermal paste, it worked fine for a week, but now it's overheating again. If the cooler is failing, why did the thermal paste fix it temporarily? What should I check next?

When you say it's overheating, what exactly do you mean? If the CPU temp goes above 95°C, that's concerning. Normally, you want it to be under 60°C while gaming. You might consider adjusting your graphics settings to put less strain on the CPU. If your AIO pump has failed, the CPU would be running hot with no cooling, which sounds likely since you mentioned the thermal paste only helped for a short time.
First off, you should check your CPU temperatures if you can get your PC to run. Are you aware of the idle temp and the temp under load? If it's hitting crazy high numbers before shutting down, that's definitely a sign of trouble. If it's not turning on at all, that could mean something is seriously wrong.
Yeah, right now my PC won't even boot up. I just get a BIOS error telling me my CPU is overheating.
That’s what happened! I was gaming, my FPS dropped suddenly from 200 to 5, and then my PC just shut down. Now it refuses to turn back on without overheating.
