My Dell G15 Laptop Keeps Shutting Down Randomly – GPU Issues?

Hello everyone! I've been having a major issue with my Dell G15 Ryzen Edition laptop. It keeps shutting down, both with and without a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). The error codes I've gotten are: VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (nvlddmkm.sys), VIDEO_MEMORY_MANAGEMENT_INTERNAL ERROR, and IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL. I'm running Windows 11 and have already tried a full factory reset, reinstalled the BIOS, and updated the NVIDIA drivers using GeForce, but the crashes happen about 4 to 5 minutes after I start my laptop. I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for fixing this issue or if it's a sign that my GPU might be faulty. These problems started appearing after a recent Windows update. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you need to check your dump files to get a better handle on the BSODs. If you can get into Windows normally or via Safe Mode, navigate to C:WindowsMinidump and see if there are any files there. If you find any, zip them up and upload to a file-sharing site like Catbox or Mediafire. Having several dump files helps in diagnosing the issue more accurately.

Make sure to back up all your important files first. Then, consider doing a clean install of Windows using a USB drive and deleting the system partition. After that, install the latest NVIDIA driver that previously worked well. If problems persist, it could indicate a hardware fault with your GPU.

Try booting your laptop in Safe Mode to see if it remains stable. Just hold the Shift key while restarting, go to Troubleshoot, then Advanced Options, and finally Startup Settings to select Safe Mode. If it doesn't crash while in Safe Mode, the problem might be driver-related rather than a hardware issue.

If you've disabled the GPU and still didn't experience crashes, it sounds promising! It might be a driver issue rather than hardware. Keeping things disabled for a bit can help rule out more aggressive measures. Just remember to test your system without the GPU to ensure everything else is working fine.
