My Ethernet Connection Keeps Saying Invalid IP Configuration—Help!

I've been having major issues with my Ethernet connection lately. It keeps showing 'Unidentified Network' and the Windows 10 troubleshooter mentions something about an invalid IP configuration. This problem started a few days ago after I received a notification from Avast that my IP address was exposed. Right after that, my internet totally stopped working, and I didn't change anything on my end.

Since then, I've been working with my modem provider's support team, and we've tried a bunch of things like restarting the modem and using CMD commands such as `netsh winsock reset`, `ipconfig /release`, and more. We even tried resetting the network and using a USB Ethernet adapter, which worked initially, but the connection dropped again after another Avast warning.

I even went as far as formatting my PC, but the issue persists. If anyone has any tips or needs more info from me to help solve this, I'd really appreciate it!

Good to know you tried uninstalling Avast, but it’s odd that there was no difference. The error message you got after running `ipconfig /renew`—that the DHCP server could not be contacted—suggests the router might not be assigning an IP properly. You could try resetting your router to factory settings or connecting directly to the modem to see if that clears things up.

It sounds like the issue might be related to Avast's firewall settings. Sometimes, antivirus software can block your connection if it thinks you're on a public network. I'd check your Windows network settings to see if that's the case. Have you tried disabling Avast temporarily to see if the connection works then? Also, what does `ipconfig` show when you run it?
