So, my friend got really angry while we were playing Fortnite and ended up hitting my PC, which caused a loud bang. Now, my GPU, an RTX 4080, isn't working anymore. I'm looking for advice on how to handle this situation. What steps should I take? Can it be fixed or should my friend just pay for a replacement?

Make sure to document all the parts that could be damaged beyond just the GPU. Sometimes a fall can mess up other components too. Before you go pressing for compensation, check if the GPU is genuinely broken or if it’s just a connection issue. But make it clear to your friend that they need to be responsible for this mess they made.

Right! Checking all connections first is smart. Who knows, it could just be a simple fix.

First off, it sounds like your friend needs to take responsibility for their actions. The best thing to do is to have them pay for the damage. If you want to troubleshoot it a bit, try reseating the GPU and checking connections. If everything is seated properly but the issue persists, it might need a replacement. Just let them know how much this GPU costs, and they should front the bill, period!

Totally agree! If they can't handle their frustrations, they shouldn’t be around your equipment. Plus, it's not cool to break someone else's stuff.

Have your friend pay for the repair or replacement, but also think hard about whether you want to keep them around as a friend. People who break your stuff in a fit of anger aren’t exactly the best companions!

For real! If this is how they react in a game, imagine what they'll do in real life situations. Better to cut ties!

I’d recommend taking your PC to a local repair shop. They can do a proper diagnosis, and it’s a good way to show your friend just how much damage was done. If it turns out to be just the GPU, they should be willing to cover the repair costs. Not to mention, if they value your friendship, they'll want to make it right.

Exactly! It's best to have a professional look at it. And it’s probably best to never let them near your stuff again!

Honestly, your friend should just cough up the cash for a new GPU. You can also check your warranty if it's still applicable. If it's not fixable, moving on from that friendship is probably a good idea too. Raging over a video game and damaging someone else's property is just unacceptable!

Seriously! It's ridiculous to act that way. I can't believe people think it's okay to break stuff when they're mad.
