My Grandpa’s Phone is Making Weird Notifications – What Should I Do?

My grandpa has this old Sony Ericsson W800, and he's been receiving these really loud notifications all day long, with a voice saying, "*knock knock knock* anybody there?" It's so strange! When I checked his phone, I noticed he gets a ton of 'I Love You' letters in different languages. I'm worried that something might be wrong with the phone since he might have gotten it from a street vendor. Can someone help me figure out if this is a virus and how to get rid of it?

The W800 is quite an old model and doesn’t really have much that can be infected like modern smartphones. From what you described, those notifications might just be spam messages. Since you mentioned it’s locked, you might want to figure out a way to unlock it or consult a service that can help with that. Just keep an eye on the messages for now—you could try to block those annoying senders.

It sounds like your grandpa may have accidentally enabled notifications from a website or something suspicious. Since he doesn't really use the internet much, I'd suggest checking the settings on the phone. Look for anything related to notifications, especially in the browser if he uses one. You might also want to run a virus scan, just in case. One more thing—if these notifications are text messages, it could be helpful to block the senders and report them as spam.
