I woke up this morning to find my iPad acting weird after being charged overnight. It seems like it reset itself. Although my data is intact, every time I open an app, it's like I've just unboxed it. For example, in the App Store it asks for personalized ad settings, and on YouTube, all my preferences are gone no matter how many times I change them. I'm hesitant to restart it since I'm worried about a possible boot loop. I'm not on iOS 26 yet, and it's a 9th gen iPad. Can anyone help me figure out what's going on?

Yikes, that could indicate some issues with the storage itself. If the storage cells are failing, they could force the data into read-only mode, or they might not save any new changes effectively. I recommend taking it to a repair center if you want to recover your data. Just be aware that sometimes that doesn’t work either.
It sounds like your iPad might have had a firmware update that reset its history or cache. That can happen sometimes. But if you can't download anything and settings keep getting lost, that’s frustrating. Have you tried a soft reset or checking for updates? That might help without getting into a boot loop.
I forgot to mention earlier, but a soft reset could definitely help. Just hold the home and power buttons until the Apple logo appears. It’s usually safe! If the issue persists, you might need to look into more specific fixes.

What actually causes the storage cells to fail like that? I’ve heard it could be due to age or heavy usage, but I’m not sure how it works.
