Hey everyone, I have an Asus Vivobook that I rely on for university. The issue I'm facing is that every time I turn it on, it only stays powered for a couple of seconds before shutting down. I've been having to charge it the night before I need to use it, which is frustrating since I thought it would hold the charge better. I typically use it every other day for class, and it should have a full battery, but it seems to lose power rapidly. My specs are an i5-12500H CPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 3050 GPU. Fast boot is disabled, and I always shut it down properly. What could be causing this quick battery drain, and how can I extend its battery life?

Your experience isn't uncommon if the battery itself is old or degraded. If it's a few years old, that might be the case. You could also try recalibrating the battery by fully charging it, letting it discharge completely, and then charging it again without interruption. That sometimes helps improve battery life.
It sounds like your laptop might be using power even when it's off, which can happen depending on the configuration. Make sure it’s completely off and not in any kind of hibernation or sleep mode. Also, check if there’s any BIOS setting that could be causing it to draw power unexpectedly when off, like 'Wake on LAN' or similar. Sometimes peripherals can also drain battery if they're connected while off, so try unplugging everything when you shut down.
Good point! It’s also worth checking if there's a software update or a BIOS update available. Sometimes these updates can fix power management issues. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the tips! I’ll definitely give recalibrating a try.
