Hey everyone, I've got an MSI GS63 7RD Stealth laptop that started making a crazy chainsaw-like noise last night while I was gaming. At first, I thought it was something outside, but then I realized it was actually coming from my laptop. When I checked it out, I felt that the battery area was swollen. I quickly unplugged it and shut it down, which took longer than I expected because it's been running slow. I'm really worried about the noise getting louder and if it could potentially explode if I had left it on. Is this just a battery issue?

Make sure to check out the fan! I had a similar issue where one of my fans made a terrible racket, and the noise stopped when I figured out it just needed some oil on the bearings. If it turns out to be something bigger, you might want to consider building your own PC!
I recommend shutting it down completely and keeping it in a fireproof place until you can take it to a computer repair shop for a thorough evaluation. Better safe than sorry!
A swollen battery is definitely dangerous, and while I’ve heard of many cases, I personally haven’t seen one catch fire. Please make sure you remove it from the laptop as soon as possible. Your laptop should still function with the charger plugged in, but definitely dispose of that battery safely.
Check if the noise could be coming from the fans. Sometimes things can come loose and rub against the blades, which could cause a lot of noise. Just a thought!
