My laptop won’t turn on after a dust cleaning—what did I do wrong?

I recently opened up my laptop to clean out the dust, removing the battery and fans for better access. I used a brush to clean everything and then reassembled everything, plugging it back in before trying to power it on. However, after waiting a while, there were no signs of life at all. The charging light, which usually turns orange when plugged in, isn't lighting up. This has happened before, but the first time, the laptop did turn on, though it would sometimes shut off randomly. Sorry for any mistakes in my writing!

It sounds like you might have missed plugging something back in when you reassembled your laptop. Did you use an antistatic brush to avoid any damage?

I used a regular paintbrush, so I hope that wasn't a problem.

For future reference, using an antistatic brush is really important when cleaning electronics!

Check to see if any connectors got loose or disconnected when you were cleaning it. If not, you might have accidentally damaged something. For cleaning electronics, it's usually better to use compressed air rather than a brush to avoid any potential issues.

I've checked everything and it does seem to be plugged in properly.

If it is bricked, at least the individual components might still be functional. You could consider selling them to recoup some costs for a new PC.
