Hey everyone! I need some help. I accidentally connected a 12V line to my Arduino's 5V line, which was plugged into my laptop. The laptop still runs fine, but I'm having some serious audio issues. The speakers and earphones no longer work, although the microphone seems fine. At first, there was a popping sound from the speakers, but now there's just silence. On top of that, my laptop shuts down when I try to restart it, and the only way to power it back on is by using the pinhole reset to drain power. I've already tried reinstalling drivers and ran a hardware scan with Lenovo Commercial Vantage, which says all the audio components are okay. I'm at a loss here! Does anyone have insights on whether I can avoid replacing my speakers or if I need to look into more serious hardware repairs?

I’d bet on the motherboard being affected instead of the speakers. The sound card could be fried too, especially since it goes through the PCIe bus. So, try those resets and check to see if it helps. Just remember, if you’re worried about warranty, make sure to check what changes might void it before pulling the battery.
Yikes! Feeding 12V through a USB's 5V can definitely cause some damage. It sounds like the motherboard might need replacement, but don’t fret just yet—the speakers are likely fine. The diagnostic tool might not pick up any issues unless the sound card is completely gone. Try taking out the battery, unplugging the AC, and holding down the power button for about 30 seconds. That might reset some settings. You can also check if your BIOS has boot diagnostics to test the sound independently, though I’m not too optimistic about it being a driver issue.
I don’t think the speakers are the problem here. Try disconnecting them and see if that changes the restart issue. If your laptop still has trouble restarting, it might point to a fried sound card or something related to the motherboard.
