Hey everyone, I'm at my wit's end here! My MacBook is showing that it's plugged in and gives the charging noise, but it won't charge—just says 'not charging'. I tried different cords and heads, all of which work on my mom's Mac, but mine still won't charge. I checked the battery health and it's normal, plus optimized charging is turned off. It was at 40% when all this started, and I'm seriously frustrated. This issue started right after my charger cord stopped working properly, and now there seems to be something stuck in the charging port. I rely on a USB-C head for both my Mac and phone, but since the head is broken, all I have left are USB cords. The only way I can charge my phone now is through my Mac, which is also not charging! Any ideas on what could be wrong?

It sounds like your charger might not be delivering enough power. Macs generally require more wattage to charge than an iPhone. If you’re using a charger meant for your MacBook, double-check its specifications to ensure it’s appropriate for your model.
Oh man, I totally get your frustration! It could just be some dust or a minor SMC issue. Give your port a gentle clean and try restarting your Mac. If it’s an Intel model, resetting the SMC might save the day! Your Mac isn’t broken; it just seems to be acting out!
Have you checked if optimized charging is on? It usually kicks in around 80%, but if yours is staying at 40% for too long, that option shouldn’t be impacting it. It really sounds like something is off with the charging mechanisms.

Make sure it’s not getting confused by power needs too. If you have apps that are demanding a lot of power, it might draw from the power supply directly instead of charging the battery.
