My Motherboard Stopped Working – What Should I Do Next?

Hey everyone! I ran into a frustrating issue with my computer. I was playing games and left it running while I went to grab some food. When I came back about 15 minutes later, my screens had no signal, and my mouse and keyboard lights were off. There wasn't a power surge or anything like that.

I took my PC apart, cleaned off the thermal paste, and applied new thermal paste, but the problem remained. I took it to a repair shop and the guy told me my motherboard is dead, but he couldn't test the CPU or GPU to see if they were affected too.

That got me wondering: what's the likelihood that other components like my CPU, GPU, or RAM might have been damaged along with the motherboard? Should I go to a better shop that can test everything, or just bite the bullet and buy a new motherboard and possibly a new PSU? Also, what are the chances of damaging a new motherboard if my PSU is faulty? Here are my specs:
- MSI 370x Pro Carbon
- Ryzen 3700x
- Zotac 3070 8GB
- 2 x 8 GB Ripjaw RAM
- Corsair Gold 750W
- Windows 10

Thanks for any help!

Have you tried pressing the power button to wake your PC from sleep before disassembling everything? That could be a simple fix. But if your motherboard is truly dead, better not risk your other components. Bringing everything to a specialized shop sounds like a good idea to get a proper diagnostic.

Yeah, I tried unplugging it and pressing the start button for a reset, but it didn’t work. It's frustrating since the nearest good shop is an hour away!
