I just built my very first PC with a Ryzen 5 5500X, an AMD RX 5600 XT, and a B550 Phantom Gaming motherboard. The only used part is the GPU. When I power it on, the GPU lights up and the fans, including the CPU cooler, are spinning. However, I see a white dash in the top left corner of my monitor alongside a line of blue at the top. The system doesn't seem to progress beyond this point no matter how long I leave it. I would really appreciate any help or advice for a newbie like me!

Is that white dash showing up on your monitor or is it just on the motherboard? If it’s the monitor, that might imply a video output issue. It's a good idea to look at any lights on the motherboard during boot-up. If they flash red and then go off, that could signal a problem. Keep at it—these things can be tricky at first!
Hey! It sounds like your new PC might not have an operating system installed yet. That white dash usually indicates that it can't find anything to boot from. You should definitely plug in your USB with Windows to get the OS set up. Once you do that, you should be able to enter the BIOS and hopefully get things moving! Let me know if you need help with that!
Thanks for the tip! I'll try that right away and see if it helps.
The white dash and blue line is probably just some RGB design from your motherboard, nothing to freak out about. The real issue is that it sounds like it's not POSTing properly. Check if your RAM has any indicator LEDs; do any of them light up or stay on? Different colors can indicate different problems, like red for issues with RAM or yellow for CPU problems. If everything's red, double-check for any bent pins on your CPU.

I see the dash on my monitor. The four lights flash red a few times, and then they all turn off. It does seem like a video issue, but I'm not sure!
