My Old Philips DVD Player Isn’t Holding a Charge – What Should I Do?

I've got this old Philips PET724 portable DVD player from around 2006 that I want to bring back to life. The issue is that it used to be rechargeable, but now it only works when it's plugged into a power source. I'm wondering if I should go ahead and replace the internal battery, or if it might be better to just get an external rechargeable battery pack. Any advice or suggestions would be super helpful!

Honestly, if it's just for the nostalgia and you can find batteries for it, go with the replacement! You can usually find older models like this for cheap, but if it has sentimental value, fixing it up sounds like the best plan. Just be careful with that battery situation!

I'd recommend replacing the battery if the player means a lot to you. Plus, you wouldn't want to risk damaging it with a swollen battery or anything like that! A quick search showed that it takes a model AY4386 battery, but do some digging to see what's inside before buying. Good luck!
