Recently, my landlord accidentally cut the fiber cable for our internet. An engineer came to fix it and moved our hub to a more visually appealing location, which was nice since we had cables running across the dining room. I took this chance to buy my partner a WiFi dongle for her PC instead of running a cable upstairs. Here's the catch: her PC is just a few feet away from mine, and I got her the same WiFi adapter that has worked great for me for years. The surprising part is that she says her WiFi speeds are so slow she can't even watch YouTube without buffering. Oddly enough, she didn't have this problem when she was using her phone as a hotspot while waiting for the fix. Her PC is slightly better than mine in specs, but I'm on Windows 11 and she's still on 10. I'm confused about what might be causing her slow speeds. Any advice on where I should start looking?

Check the path between her adapter and the router. If there are walls at certain angles, they can interfere with the signal quite a bit. Sometimes putting the dongle on a longer cable and adjusting its position can help improve the connection a lot.
One thing you could try is swapping the WiFi adapters between the two PCs. That way, you can see if the issue lies with her adapter or something else. Don’t feel bad for not thinking of it sooner; it happens to all of us!

Haha, right? I can't believe I didn't consider that sooner!
