I recently built a gaming PC with money I saved from freelancing, and I've had it for less than a year. Unfortunately, a storm hit and disrupted the power supply in my home, and now, my PC won't turn on at all. The power supply seems non-functional, and the motherboard doesn't light up either. This has been really tough for me as I'm currently unemployed and it was my only luxury purchase. I've even tried the paperclip method to test the power supply, but that didn't work. I'm unable to remove the CMOS battery since it's really stuck in place. I'm not sure how to proceed because I don't have the extra cash to replace parts right now. Here are the specs of my setup: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rgPJt3.

If you bought the components new, check if there's any warranty left. You might be able to get it replaced without spending extra cash.
Make sure to look into surge protectors, as they can expire even if not used. If you can, invest in a good UPS since it offers better protection. You’ll thank yourself later when it keeps your systems safe!
If it’s worth trying, plug your PC into a different outlet. It could make a difference!
I’d recommend trying to isolate the issue—most likely it’s just the power supply that’s dead, not everything. Most modern power supplies have fail-safes to protect other components. You might consider ordering a new PSU from Amazon just for testing and then returning it once you confirm if the rest works.
I just ordered the same power supply and a surge protector to figure out if that’s the issue. I’ve also submitted a ticket for a potential replacement.
You won’t know if the other parts are damaged until you replace the power supply. You can likely find used ones for around $50 on Craigslist or Marketplace. It’s a shame you didn’t have a surge protector—definitely a good investment for the future!
I had no idea surge protectors were that important until now.
It’s only been about five months since I bought it.
